When Opening Word File, its Tries to launch NAV file NAVW32.EXE

Sam

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 computer with windows XP Pro (SP2). Also
installed is Office XP with word 2002, ZAPRO, and NAV 2006. Each time that
I open an existing word file, a ZoneAlarm Pro Security Alert dialog box
appears and states: "Microsoft Word is trying to launch C:\PROGRAM
FILES\NORTON ANTIVIRUS\NAVW32.EXE or use another program to gain access to
privileged resources." This appears to be something new within the last
week. I suspect that it may be due to the recent word update that I
downloaded and installed from the Microsoft update web site.

An comments and/or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Sam.

You seem to have a surfeit of protection methods on your PC. You shouldn't
need both Zone Alarm *and* Windows firewall (and don't tell me that you have
a third firewall with NAV?)

You could start by switching off the office plug-in for NAV

With some versions of the Norton product it may be necessary to unregister
the calling DLL by running the following command line from Windows > Start >
Run

regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll"
or
regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton systemworks\norton
antivirus\officeav.dll"

Graham, many thanks for your reply and information. I had checked NAV for
an Office plug-in function but missed the entry (Other/Miscellaneous).
Found it, turn it off and problem solved. Thanks again, Sam.
