When newer is not always better

Anyone discovered a way to stop Windows Messenger, and / or MSN Messenger,
from (persistently) notifying you that a newer version is available? (other
than updating ;) )?

I am currently content with version 4.7.2009 of Windows Messenger, because
of its add-in support, and although I probably will update MSN Messenger
sometime, I would prefer not having the constant reminders.

Using XP Home. Thanks for any thoughts.

Look in the programs' options for something regarding update checks. If
there isn't anything, then since these are Microsoft products let them
know:
