When inserting 007, Excel cuts out the two zero's.

How do I make Excel leave the zero's at the beginning of the number?

Format the cell as TEXT or enter a leading apostrophe ( ' ) befor
keying in the numbers
 
You must either have the cell(s) formatted as text, which will hold the
actual characters in the cell. Otherwise, you can custom format the cell to
'000' which will display the leading zeros, but not hold them in the cell.

Change the format of the cell

=> Format Cells
=> Custom
typ in 000
and it works and it is still a number!!
