I have this issue as well and nothing works! I have tried the suggestion
provided by Steve Cochran (MSPV). I now have 1500 undeleable mail items. I
am thinking moving from XP was a mistake, pitty 'cause I like the rest of
Vista but email is important to me.

What did you try?

Frank,

I am running RC1, not keen to upgrade (pay $200-200 AUD) is this problem
persists. I followed suggestion in other thread where peopele suggetsed
trolling through the folder (within Mail) deleting mail that can be deleted,
then retarting mail and repeatig the porocesses. This did not work for me.

Well, I have one message listed in Drafts that gets that message even though
it really isn't there.

You do know that RC1 has a time limit?

It may be an old topic for some however, this just started happening to me a
couple of days ago and I have been running windows mail for a couple of
months now - is there really no other way than to call MICROSOFT?

Where do you have this stuck mail.
Is it in the Outbox?
If it is there is a utility written by Steve Cochran that will help you.
Just read through the many previous posts for the link.

If you are not willing to just ignore them, the only way is to delete both
copies of the database (which does not contain the messages, but only
references to them) and let WinMail rebuild it.
First close WinMail, then use Task Manager to make sure there are no
instances of it under applications or processes.
Then click Start | Search | Advanced Search
Check the box to include non-indexed, hidden and system files.
In the Name field type WindowsMail.MSMessageStore and click the Search
button.
It should show you two copies. Delete both of them and re-open WinMail.

Hello Frank,

My system runs Windows Mail and I have Windows Vista as my operating system.

I can tell you that when I look in the Deleted Messages folder and I try to
view any of the messages that won't delete the preview pane shows nothing in
the "to", "from", or "subject" fields, they are all blank. The body of the
message shows: "Message cannot be found. The contents of this message cannot
be found. Windows Mail" or it shows: "Message could not be displayed.
Windows Mail encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message.
Check your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again. Windows
Mail"

I know I don't have low memory or low disk space... so on to your fix...

Thank you for this fix. Before I do it I am wondering... If I delete these
files, will it only delete the mail in the deleted mail box or is it going to
delete *all* the messages in all my folders (Inbox, Deleted Mail, Junk, etc.
including ones I made up myself)?

I want to get rid of these undeleteable messages but at the same time I
don't want to lose the important mail messages I have saved.

Thank you for your help...

Piper Christian :)

Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090
It also works on other folders.

Thanks for the reply Frank,

I looked in the Outbox folder, there aren't any messages there. Which fix
should I use, the first one you posted about deleting the WinMail databases
or the other fix that you just suggested that's contained in the link you
supplied?

Will I lose any saved messages with either fix?

Thanks again,
Piper Christian.

Use the second fix from the Knowledge Base article, it works on other
folders as well. You shouldn't lose anything.
