When I try to open an HTML file, Frontpage (2k & XP) crashes... H.

All of a sudden, when I try to open ANY *.html page in Frontpage (both 2000,
and XP versions) Frontpage locks up, and begins to consume ALL CPU processes.
(Ctrl-Alt-Del Taskmanager)

It doesn't disrupt other programs, but now Frontpage is a useless hunk of
code, and it makes editing my webs & pages impossible (unless I want to use
notepad).

Please, please someone help me. Office is expensive, and MS refuses to offer
any support.

With FrontPage closed find and delete all *.web files. Do not delete any
*.web files associated with Xara products (if you use Xara).

These [Microsoft files] are hidden, system files normally found in the
folder
%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
(type or copy/paste into the Windows Explorer address bar)

Have you tried the usual repairs in the sequence below:
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Run a Repair on IE
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
5) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
6) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks
