When I try to insert a picture from a file, Word closes. Why?

I want to import a drawing created in another program and saved as a file on
my hard drive. On the Imsert menu I select Picture and when I click "From
File", Word just shuts down. Is there something I can do to prevent this?

Have you checked to see what folder it's trying to look in? Maybe it's
running into an error that it doesn't know how to handle so it just shuts
down. I don't know, I'm just guessing. That's what I'd look for if it was me.
