When I select and replace text

Hi,

My word started behaving strangely lately on one particular feature. I am
not sure if I modified a setting to make it behave this way but i am hoping
that there is a solution.

Usually, when I select a word, then press a letter on the keyboard, the
selected word is replaced by the letter I pressed.

What is now happening is that when I select a word, and press a letter on
the keyboard, the original word is remaining where it is, and the letter is
appended to the beginning or end of the word (depending on where the cursor
is).

A similar thing happens when I paste text over selected text. The selected
text is not replaced but remains there, and the pasted text is appended.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks,
Jeremy.

Hi Jeremy,

In Tools> Options> Edit, you have "Typing Replaces Selection"
unchecked. Check it and this behavior will return to the way it
was.
