when I open a memo/ letter from my doc. folder, the date auto cha.

when I open a saved letter or memo from my documents, the date on the page
automatically changes to today's date. ( I am losing the original date
document was created) How can I turn this off? any help woulkd be
appreciated.

You still have the original date in the documents properties information

When you insert the data to begin with, you are offered the option to
update automatically. You can change it for each existing document by
replacing the existing date field (it inserted a current date field not just
the date).
