When i double click on any .exe file it pops up a screen
saying :
Which User account do you want to use to run this program?
Then it gives me couple of options for example current
user
and a lil tick box saying protext my computer and data
from unauthorized program activity
then more about that
then an option to run it as a different user

How do i turn this Run as user thing off?

Martin,

Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell
(Export the key and save it as REG file.)
In the right-pane, double-click "default" and delete the current value.

If this did not help, get the EXE file association from Doug Knox's site:

Ramesh's suggestion of using the EXE association fix at Doug Knox's sit
worked great! Spent the last couple of days wrestling with thi
problem, and the EXE fix cured it immediately. Problem started suddenl
after using Norton CleanSweep
