when I copy files to my laptop at work, they have "read only"

when I copy files they always say read only??? even when I take the folder
and make and uncheck the read only box, they still stay read only???? why

Hi,

Folders or files? WindowsXP will ignore the "read only" attribute on a
folder. For files, simply remove the attribute.

thanks alot, that was really bothering me, I am just curious, how was I
supposed to know that???? and how can I find these things out??

Also, I made a folder into a shared folder which has about 20 folder, why is
it that on ly some of them can be accessed on my desktop when My laptop is
pluggedinto the router. some work fine, and other say access denied

That little quirk is not particularly well documented, but you can read

That may be either a faulty network connection, or a misconfiguration on the
sharing. Keep in mind also the inbound connection limits in WinXP (5 in
Home, 10 in Pro).
