When I click on a pull-down menu, I want to see the entire menu- .

This new "innovation" that Microsoft has incorporated into its products,
whereby you have to click twice to see an entire pull-down menu, is
ridiculous. Show me the entire thing at once, without my having to click on
another down arrow to see the bottom half of the pull down menu.

Ridiculous? It is more a matter of setting your options properly.

View>Toolbars>Customize>Options and uncheck "Menus show recently used
commands first."

It is intended to reduce screen clutter, but is not compulsory - in Word you
can turn it off from tools > customize > Options > Always show full menus.
Similarly you can turn it off in other apps, such as IE.

Dear Mad,

It's neither new nor an innovation, but it is ridiculous. Fortunately you
can turn it off. Open the Tools > Customize dialog, click the Options tab,
and check the box for "Always show full menus".

The default should be the full menu and if you want a customized menu, have
that option in the option box. That customized menu thing is so annoying

In Word 2000, the option was the opposite--"Menus show recently used items
first"--but it was enabled by default, which amounted to the same thing.

This "feature" continuously infuriates me also. I understand that it can be
turned off, but why is turned on in the first place? In my opinion this
should be turned off by default and then it can be enabled by all those users
just dying to take advantage if this "great" feature.

On the Tools menu, click Customize. You can control the behavior of
menus on the Options tab.

FWIW, Microsoft has heard you. Look for changes in Office 12.
