when I CLICK MY CURSOR BUTTON IT FILLS IN WITH BLUE BACKGR0UND

Last night I fell asleep at the computer while using microsoft word and when
I tried to continue typing my cursor no longer showed an arrow but a black
box - and when I would click it, it filled my typing with blue background.

my delete button would not work and it is showing something like this (
I+=)with 4 lines
1 - When I CLICK MY CURSOR BUTTON IT FILLS IN WITH BLUE BACKGR0UND-how do I
correct this. My up and down arrow was not working,
 
Gee - that must have been one boring document!

Have you tried closing Word and reopening it?
Have you tried restarting your computer?
Have you tried No-Doz? :-)
