Background color is only visible in the Day and Work Week views. Try
switching to day or work week view by clicking 'Day' or 'Work Week' from the
Standard toolbar. Keyboard shortcuts: Day (ALT+Y) ... Work Week (ALT+R)
Not if the original poster is using Outlook 2003. 2003 allows for calendar
coloring in all views of the calendar.
