To build a formula in excel, i tend to always use the mouse to select cell
references and ranges. Each time I have to use an operator, i must return to
the keyboard. It would be far more efficient to have a new toolbar available
which would include all the numerical operators i.e. +, - , /, * <, > etc.

You can have it on your tool bar. Right click on the toolbar and clic
on customize.
Click on commands tab.
Select Insert on the the left panel and scroll down on the right pane
till you see the +,-,*,/ etc. Drag the icon to the toolbar and you ar
done.
