when add guest surfing the net slow

When I add my son as a guest and he has his own desktop
etc. Then when we surf the net everything is much slower.
I logged off the guest and turned it off and it's still
slow surfing the net. I cleaned all the temps out and the
cookies etc., but why does that happen?
I have DSL.
