when a document is received, how do you save changes you make

I received an email with an attached word document. I opened it and tracked
the changes I made. I want to save the changes so I can email the changes
back to the original author. I clicked "save as", entered a file name, and
exited. The document cannot be found and the original document does not show
my chages. HELP

Always, always, always save attached documents before editing the saved
copy; do not try and edit documents while attached. You may have entered a
new file name but it doesn't sound like you entered a new location.

That said, if you are still logged on and still running Outlook the document
will probably be in a sub-folder of your Temporary Internet Files Folder -
exactly what the folder may be called depends on Office and/or Windows
version - on my Vista/Outlook 2007 system it is a subfolder of
C:\Users\Tony\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.Outlook
