Wheel on mouse will not work

I tried everything to get an Amptron wireless optical wheel to work.
The mouse works fine along with all the buttons, even the wheel
button, but the scrolling doesn't work. It is a PS/2 wireless
receiver, and when I scroll the wheel the light blinks like it is
getting transmissions from the mouse. I tried the latest drivers from
Amptron, but they don't make Windows XP recognize the mouse any
differently, still just the generic PS/2 mouse driver. I tried to
manually install the driver for XP and it says the class "something"
won't allow it to be installed. My idea is that the driver isn't
compatible with XP like they say. I tried the intellimouse 5 drivers,
still not working. Are there any drivers I can try or anything? I
have uninstalled, reinstalled, set all the settings like they need to
be. Other PS/2 wheel mice work on my machine.

What does Amptron's tech support say? If other scroll mice work, then
you know the issue is with the Amptron mouse hardware or software
(drivers) and aside from getting drivers that work with XP, there isn't
a whole lot you can do about making the mouse work with XP.

Good luck,
