wheel button doesn't work right

II have a microsoft optical wheel mouse. Ever since I upgraded to WinXP SP2
My wheel button won't stay set to double click. I am using intellipoint 5.2
It is set to double click and it constantly stops working, yet the software
still shows it to be set to double click. I have to restart the computer to
get the wheel button to double click as set. I don not have it set for
program specific setting. I tried changing that and it didn't work.
 
Did the mouse come with an installation disk? You may need to reinstall the
drivers. Or, you may have to download updated drivers from the manufacturer.
 
I've installed the latest drivers and software from microsoft right after
reimaging a month ago. I am using Intellipoint v5.2. It did the same thing
with intellipoint v4.1 before I reimaged
