I built up a local area network in my company. There are about 6 computers in
the network, five use winxp, one use win server 2003. They are all in one
work group. All the computer attain the ip address automatically. The promble
is that There is a computer it can ping other computers but others can not
ping it. What's wrong.

Andy,

This is most likely a firewall setting. Which computer is the problem? Is it
running XP SP2? If so, check the File and Printer Sharing exception in Windows
Firewall - with the exception enabled, pinging should also be enabled. Any
third party firewalls - now or in the past? What about AntiVirus programs?

Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

It is runing sp1 and the firewall is unabled.

Andy,

Check some other posts in this forum - many firewalls, though disabled, will
cause problems like yours. You generally have 2 choices:
1) Enable, then properly configure.
2) Enable, then un install, using all procedures provided by vendor.
