I'm going to upgrade to XP. What should I get. Should I
get Windows XP Home or XP Pro? I cannot decide what I
want and I know that I won't do remote desktop but I hear
there are more features in Pro. Should I go for XP Pro
anyway.

Unless you are on a business network save the money and buy XP Home Edition.
The added features of Windows XP Professional are geared towards business
use, and are of no benefit to home users.

Richard;

That is not necessarily true...I and many people that I know use WinXP
Pro on our home machines because of the networking and security options it
provides. While someone with only one or two computers in the home may not
"need" XP Pro, those of us who have multiple computers and multiple
networks/domains are using XP Pro.

How many homes have a domain?

And can you clarify what "networking and security options" are present in
Home that aren't present in Pro?

Greetings Sam,

I agree with Richard.

Windows XP Home is specifically for home users and most home users will not
have a domain. There isn't a reason to purchase more money for Pro. The main
differences involve are the connection limits. While Windows XP Home allows
five simultaneous file sharing connections, Windows XP Pro allows up to ten
connections. However, many networking features are indentical in Windows XP
Home and Professional. The Client Service for NetWare is not included in XP
Home. That is available in Windows XP Professional.

Go with Pro. It should have any and all of the bells and
whistles you'll ever need, and then some.
