what virus do I have?

I have a virus on my computer that makes it crash quite reularly and
seems to close any virus scanner/checker that i run on my PC. Without a
virus checker it seems to be very hard to find out what the virus is.
Has anyone any ideas on what it might be?

What kind of error do you get upon crashing? It could be that you have a
ton of crap running and resources are low, or it could be a lot of
ad/spyware bogging you down. It could also be some hardware failure.
Unless you can run a virus scan or have some information, it's going to be
very difficult to find the root of the problem.

So run something online, like Housecall, or scan from safe mode, or DOS
(unless you are using NTFS).
