What to do with spyware attempt

U

Hi all,

Recently I was sent a message through MSN from a known contact which had a
link which I stupidly clicked on, which of course put spyware on my PC. I
believe I have succesfully removed this. It does not appear to be a virus
because I have scanned my entire PC with AVG and McAffee, both of which found
nothing.

Fortunately a friend of mine who automatically got the same link from my MSN
messenger, was smart enough not to click it, and actually sent me the link on
my email. I want to submit this to Microsoft so they can do something with
it, and add it to their Windows Defender product or something, but unless I
am missing something, they only allow you to submit files which you believe
are infected...

Now obviously I am not clicking it again and infecting my machine just so I
can send the files... Is there anywhere which I can forward the email with
the dodgy link in so they can deal with it?!

Not that I know of, unfortunately. I think it's admirable that you want to
try to warn others, but I think the best course of action is really going to
be to delete whatever you've got & move on. Remember not to click links from
anyone (even if they look like they're from friends) unless you're expecting
them - this is also true for e-mail attachments.

No. Let it go.
