What to do about worm.automat.ahb

Nortons keeps telling me it finds worm.automat.ahb, but can't delete it.
When I search for the files listed, I can't find them. I haven't googled a
solution for this (Symantec's reference is useless here).

This may have something to do with the 5000 messages I got in the last 2
days.

Any suggestions?

You should be able to look at the scan log and find out where Norton found the worm at. Likely it is in your System Restore backups, and you will have to disable, then re-enable System Restore to purge it there. You will lose all your existing Restore Points by doing this, but there is no alternative.

Unless you installed some of the fake 'patches', or opened the alleged
'bounce' messages with an antique version of OE, you should not have
been infected .. Norton may just be bleating about the attachments to
the emails. The worm also goes by the name 'SWEN.A'.
