What the heck: XP to W2K Advanced server

T

Todd W. Roat

We have a 90 person netwrok running off W2K Advanced server, with the
pc's running W2Kpro. We have been testing a few PCs with XPpro.
However, the XPpro interaction with the W2K advanced server is
painfully slow in multiple ways: file access, file opening, login,
applying user settings, etc. W2K machines fly.

Whats the deal? Seen a bunch of similar psots but no real solutions
beyond keeping updated. We do. Im not a super network administrator
- just a back up to the back up when the admin guiys not here. But I
just can tbelieve they would roll out XP Pro, put in on most all new
machines, but then have it be a slug with W2KAdvaned server.

Is there a troubleshooting list on this issue we can look into? We
would love to go XPpro on the desktops.

Thanks
Todd

It sounds like the XP computers don't have the same DNS settings as the Win
2k computers.
How do they get their DNS settings? Are they the same as the Win 2k
computers?
