What the beta doesn't remove.

After the beta scan, Spybot still finds:

CoreMetrics
Advertising.com
DoubleClick
DSO Exploit
HitBox
MediaPlex
WebTrends live

Is the beta doing its job or what?

John;
Those sound like cookies except for DSO exploit.
The current version is not intended to detect cookies.

DSO Exploit is a known false positive of Spybot.
Do you have the latest version with updates?
Is Windows fully updated and patched?
If so, you do not have a problem.

Y're right Jupiter, but personnaly I think several anti-
psy are necessary. Each is with different logic.

I use Microsoft-Aps, AdAware and Spybot and I try
Prevx...
Perhaps one day an universal antispyware will be... But
when?

One aspect of the antivirus world that gives the vendors a fairly equal
playing field is that they share information--they share a set of
information about the bugs that allows multiple companies to make the claim
that they remove 100% of some independently defined set of bugs.

So far, this isn't true in the antispyware field, although there was an
attempt. So--a company that manages to collect the most information may be
in the best position.

you could run any 6 anti-spy progs at any given time, or
all at once and each would find something the other seemed
to have missed. It's a matter of current update info being
avail....and user's keeping up with the update's...made by
man, it's gonna have flaws...so avoid surfin the porn/I
mean the net until you have a working/WORKING knowledge of
and can personally yourself see or otherwise "feel", hear,
observe, catch the hint, see well enuff to notice ur
desktop is gone, whatever it takes....general awareness
beats Anti-progs for frontline defense ... if your puter
has and virus or spyware...anything out of the
ordinary...it's like a child with a fever...pay attention
you machine will tell you when action should be taken.
GOOD DAY...~shrugz
