Nevermind

... of course you were correct. I guess because it's the index/home page you have to change it in web settings.
Thanks..
Rob
I don't think that's what I meant. Your suggestion would change the name of Home globally, I don't think that's what I want? Or do I....
Or is that what the problem is??? I'm almost certain I've changed the TITLE of the Home page before and had it appear correctly on the Nav buttons. Dang now I'm confused. I guess I should just try it huh...
Thanks.

| | AH LIFE IS GOOD (well, almost

|
| I dumped everythang off the server except the stats, republished the basics
| of the new site and it's purrring along nicely. Really nice not having 78
| meg of garbage to sift through!
|
| Except...(you know the one 'little except'?)...
|
| In FP (locally) I changed the Title of the index page (just the title) from
| Home to Ballet & Friends. I changed it in Page Properties and in Navigation
| View...but...in the Link Bar Navigation buttons it refused to change to the
| new title. Did a refresh, also recalculate, dumped temp files...everythang I
| could think of with only one beer in me and it still won't change to the new
| title...What am I missing??
|
| Its not in a shared border...just a left table column.
|
| Thanks!!

| | | I would "slick" the server, have the host
| | reset the stats settings and extensions,
| | or simply delete the *local copy* of the stats
| | folder, recalculate links and then publish.
| |
| | That should make things sunny and bright again.

| | | | Must be a CP feature since I'd never seen it before on any of the other
| webs
| | I work on, this being the first with CP so I assumed it's a unix thang.
| |
| | When I realized I inherited a major mess of a web...I downloaded
| everything
| | (published down) to my local machine. Then I made some minor changes and
| | when I went to up load them I got lots of errors on files I'd never see
| | before. When I looked closer I noticed that on the local copy I had _stats
| | folder. HUH? So I think what was happening was that FP was trying to
| | overwrite the server's _stats folder - which it couldn't. Then the whole
| | world turned dark and dismal.

| |
| | | | | Is it the FrontPage stats feature or
| | | the CPanel stats data that's downloaded.
| | | I use CPanel stats, and the way my servers
| | | are set up, the stats are maintained above the
| | | root of the web and aren't seen / touched by
| | | FrontPage and can only be accessed via CPanel.

| | | | | | Steve & Tom,,
| | |
| | | Thanks! I'm gonna wipe it tomorrow...keeping my fingers crossed.
| | |
| | | One other question, how come _stats gets downloaded to local machine at
| | all?
| | | All it does is make things screwy when uploading since the server won't
| | | allow _stats to be overwritten...at least that's what I surmise from
| | upload
| | | errors. I ended up manually making every file in _stats "don't publish"
| | | status - before I discoverd Jimco's nifty add-in. What would you need
| | stats
| | | for on the local copy anyway?
| | |
| | | Thanks again,

| | |
| | | | | | | 2 Options.
| | | | 1. In CPanel open Access Menu and then File Manager
| | | | and delete everything in the public_html folder and the
| | | | www folder.
| | | | Empty the trash can.
| | | |
| | | | 2. Open the live site in FrontPage and
| | | | delete everything you see in the root web.
| | | | Basically everything you can see with FrontPage in folder view.
| | | |
| | | | Or as an alternative when you are ready to publish
| | | | the new web: Recalculate hyperlinks in the new local web, then select
| | | | Publish Web...
| | | | Publish all and during the publish process FrontPage *should* prompt
| you
| | | | to delete files that are on the server but not in the web you are
| | | | publishing.

| | | | | | | | Howdy,
| | | |
| | | | I've inherited a mess of a web from a previous webster. It's running
| on
| | | | Apache/Linux, I'm using FP2002 to re-do the site.
| | | |
| | | | I want to wipe out the existing web & subweb out on the server and
| start
| | | | "fresh", the only thing I want to keep is _stats. The server has a
| | control
| | | | panel...I can't remember what version, but I have access to it (but
| not
| | | much
| | | | experience with unix.
| | | |
| | | | Anyway...what files/folders should I NOT delete? Or should I delete
| | | | everything and have the admin server dood reinstall the FP extensions?
| | | |
| | | | Thanks
