What picture dpi is needed for a projected slide show?

I'm making a powerpoint presentation that will be projected on a large
screen. The presentation size is too large. My concern is that the pictures
on the slides will not be presentable if I reduce the dpi too much. On the
computer they should be around 96dpi, whereas the pictures should be 200dpi
to print. What size should I make the pictures if they will be projected?

Forget about DPI. It's not helpful in this situation. And the screen size
really isn't important either.

If you can, find out the highest resolution the projector can support.
If you have no way of finding out, assume 1024x768.

For full screen images, that's how big you want your images to be. Images that
are smaller on the slide can be proportionally smaller.

Basically, make all of your images 1024x768 pixels or so and you should be
fine.
