What mobo is this? Link to pics enclosed

Can anybody tell what motherboard this is by the pictures I have taken? I
swear I cannot see the writing anywhere on the board. I also need to know if
that is an AGP 4x slot in the center of the board.

Be warned that I left the pictures uncropped and they are each about 1.2mb
in size in case you want to zoom in. I know it has an AMD processor and the
only writing I see anywhere is this: 686 amibios aw97, 2206.

Thank you very much for any help.

I didn't find the pics to be of much help, but others might.

If the system is working, download and install something like the
Belarc Advisor (www.belarc.com) - that should tell you everything
you need to know about what is in that computer.

I see amibios on the board, so I went to the American Megatrends site. The
bios even says American Megatrends when I boot up. However, the AMI website
says if it is a real American Megatrends board that I should see its logo on
the board and it would have "ami" in the series number. I see no ami in the
series number on the screen, but ami also says I should be able to hold down
any key on the keyboard during bootup to cause an error which will also
display the series number. That does not work, as even when I hold down a
key, XP still boots up with no error.

Here is a number I found on the boot up screen though:

62-0712-001437-00101111-071595 SiS730S M 810LR-H.

That's all I got.

Go to http://www.pcchips.com.tw

Your board is one of their older mboards. Look on the
mboard for a revision number, it will help you find the
correct manual to download.

Good Luck,

Hi
Looks like its either a PC Chips M810 (aka ECS K7SEM ver 3.0) series
motherboards (M810, M810LR, M810LMR).

Have a look here http://radel.inet.net.nz/m810lmr.html

Looks a lot like this picture:

http://www.baber.com/motherboards/pcchips/pcchips_socket_a/pcchips_m810lr_v_8.0.htm

The motherboard on the baber.com page has a different BIOS socket style.
The motherboard probably has a dual footprint layout for the BIOS
ROM, so they can use a DIP or they can use the square socket for
the ROM.

Your chipset is here. It mentions AGP 4X.

There is more info on AGP here:

Thank you everybody for spending so much time on me, especially in an Asus
forum. We are going way back, I know, but the comp is for the kids and the
games they are playing are still pretty simple.

I just put XP sp2 on there and it installed everything--not that there was
much to install. I am not going to fool with the bios. I had no idea the fsb
and bus speed were so little, but it looks like I can put an AGP 4x 64mb
card in there.

I am posting this elsewhere, but I would like to know if this video card
will work on my computer:

http://tinyurl.com/4v6a2

I have an Amd Athlon (K7) 1.3ghz. I know the psu and ram is sufficient on my
computer, but I cannot find the system requirements for this video card. My
bios info says I have a 2x slot but 4x will work.

PowerColor Radeon 7000 / 64MB DDR / AGP 4X / VGA / DVI / TV Out / Video Card

Did you see the link I posted earlier ?

http://www.playtool.com/pages/agpcompat/agp.html

SIS730 = "Universal AGP Motherboard"
Radeon 7000 = "Universal AGP Card"

The result will be a video card that runs at 1.5V, and you
can use up to AGP 4X with that. The keying system on the
motherboard and video card, will prevent incompatible things
from being plugged together, but everything should fit in this
case.

It'll do the job, but I don't know what kind of frame rate
it'll give you :)

For performance charts, start here:

http://www.tomshardware.com/site/vgacharts/index.html

The 7000 can be seen at the bottom of this chart:

Thanks Paul. This is the conclusion I have reached about my motherboard.
Itis the M810LMR, made my American Megatrends I think, with a SiS730s
chipset. The board has also been known as the ECS K7SEM ver 3.0. What I
really need to know is if I can buy a card that supports both 4x and 8x so I
can get one of the Geforce cards with 128mb. Would also love to have video
in video out.

It seems like any of the Nvidida Geforce Fx or Mx would work. I could not
find any on Newegg or Tigerdirect though. I think I had better definitely go
with one of the older ones that says nothing about "8x." I guess I will have
to forget about the VIVO. It will definitely have to have dvi and svideo out
though.

If you want VIVO, go with a TV tuner card. This card is $30
and has Svideo (SVHS) and RCA video inputs. It is based on a
BT878 type chip, and should be able to record 640x480 in
uncompressed mode (as long as you don't try to preview at
the same time). This is similar technology to the old WinTV
cards. It chews up disk like crazy, but has the advantage
that there is no transcoding later. You get to preserve the
recorded quality until the final compression to whatever
format you want.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122221

A Theater 550 card might be another option. $74. Has a plugin
AV adapter with Svideo/Composite/left_and_right_audio. Records
in compressed format and might allow the computer to be used
for something else while it records.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127987
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=Theater_550PRO&class=vga
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/suppo...=3&kind=10&name=E8621_TV-Series_v2.0(ATi).zip

There are a ton of video card choices without VIVO.

I'm partial to MSI cards, for the cheap ones. I have an FX5200
from them that hasn't caused any problems. The following might
be an option, as it has both slots cut in the edge (Universal).
The extra video card memory might help a bit with an older
computer.

MSI FX5500-TD256 Geforce FX5500 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X $75
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127131

While this one is an SE, it is only $70. It has both slots cut.
It is a Sapphire and they make cards for ATI. (I would avoid
the Jetway versions of ATI cards, based on the Newegg reviews.)

SAPPHIRE Radeon 9800SE 128MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X $70
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102587

This has more onboard memory, and would be slightly better
than the 7000 you were looking at.

SAPPHIRE Radeon 9250 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Retail $48
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102404

Have fun,
Paul

Thanks Paul. The problem I see with the TV tuner card is that I have no
slots left. You did all that work and I sure feel bad about that.

I am looking at the video cards you sent me. No matter how I look at it
though, that AGP slot in my computer sure looks smaller than what I am used
to when I look at the 4x/8x in my other computer. I hope this 4x/8x stuff
will work in my older AGP slot that was really designed for 2x cards. We'll
see soon enough.

If that's the one with onboard video, you won't be able to get a video
card to work as the onboard video will NOT disable itself.
I had that mobo a few years back and it really pissed me off for that
reason.
