What is U3?

Can someone tell me what U3 is?

I have a new ScanDisk and MyComputer show two drives.

One has no free space and has 5.48megs and contains:
autorun.inf
LaunchPad.Zip
LaunchU3.exe

The other is a removable drive and contains:
LaunchU3.exe

What are all those things for???

I'm not sure I understand what I read.

Is this true, without U3 one could install an app specifying the ScanDisk as
the directory.

Move the scan disk to another computer and try to run the app, which
probably will not run because it looks for things put on the registry when
it was installed.

However, some apps are designed to run under U3 and will not have the above
mentioned problem

That is, there are apps for sale that are designed to run under U3 while
most apps or sale will not run if installed on U3.

IS THAT CORRECT??

Thanks again!

It is a small and very practical "Operating System" that works for any
WinXP Computer that allow you to run U3 compatible applications from
your U3 enabled pendrive, without leaving any trace in the host
computer. Among U3 enabled applications they are several Web Browsers
and Email Clients (some of them free), which are very useful when you
want to travel without a notebook computer and you want to read your
email in the business center of your hotel.
