HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\services\TermService

The path HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\services\
has ONLY one key TermService other than the default. It is REG_DWORD
set to value 3. No other services are listed.

I have diabled Terminal Services from the service tab. Why is this
TermService key so special that it is in there ?
thanks
Anita

For XP Home or Pro, Terminal Services is used to support Fast User Switching (the feature that allows you to log on, while sending another user's logon to the background). When you disabled Terminal Services, this key:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\services\

Was created so that MSCONFIG could track that fact that its been disabled, and this information is used to restore it back to its default settings, should you decide to re-enable it.
