What is the speed of AMD SEmpron 2600+?

I looked in system tools and found that I have an AMD Sempron 2600+ but
how do I find out what speed it is? I looked it up and have seen a
couple 1.6ghz but I have also seen some other speeds. Don't really
know what I am looking at so would appreciate any help. I'm looking to
buy my son his own computer but I want to make sure it is fast enough
to play his games. Right now it's just cartoon network and nickelodeon
and ones we buy from the store (like sims etc). But soon he will be
upgrading to older kids games. I am looking at spending $500 on a
Wal-Mart 1.5ghz pc but wonder if it will be enough? If you have any
suggestions I'm all ears.

I found this 1.8 at the wal-mart site:

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=4545567

If that's the one you're looking at it's good for the price. Bigger 17"
monitor if good for gaming. Plus, it has a PCI Express slot so when he
starts playing those better games you can disable the onboard video and buy
a good graphics card for him. Good deal for $500, I'd get it for him.

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/192/3 indicates the Sempron 2600+
comes in two pin socket sizes: 462 and 754. The 462 socket operates at 1.83
Ghz. The 754 operates at 1.6 Ghz.

Just a newbie here who recently received help assembling her computer,
including some instruction in CPU specifications, and is slowly trying to
learn more.

If you post info about your motherboard (make and model), that, for one,
might nail down the socket size. Or give info about the computer make and
model, and that might turn up the mobo info or more CPU info.
