Hello all i just bought a amd sempron 2200 1.5ghz and it says it runs at a 266 mhz fsb.

Here is my question. Some sites a i look at say the sepmron 2200 is suppost to run at a 266mhz fsb but others say 333. Just wondering if they made two differnt versions of the sempron 2200

I don't know offhand but you could try running it at 333 (nor forgetting to adjust multiplier to suit) and if boots then you're OK :)

If it doesn't boot, reset the cmos/bios, reboot, go into Bios and set it back to 266.

PS: Just had a quick look around, all Sempron 2200's I've seen run at 333.

Set it to 166 x 9 = 1500Mhz.

Thanks for the quick reply bro. The motherboard i have is able to run at 266 or 333.

Yes, they did make 2 versions ... I beleive one was the old T'bird/T'bred (266) and the other the old AthlonXP chip (333) 9.0 x 166mhz @ 1.60v ... they are still being made under the Semperon badge.

:D

well i just looked at my board and its set a 166mhz x 9 witch makes it 1.5ghz and its running at 333mhz fsb

So i guess i have the one that is 333mhz fsb

Glad you sorted that one out :) :thumb:

On looking around, that particular chip seems to overclock quite well, lottsa folks getting 1.8Ghz and more, stable... ;)

wow really? how are they going about doing it? over clocking bus or messing with clock multiplier

Up the fsb, if your motherboard supports that, mess around with RAM timings, and keep an eye on those temps....

My motherboard manual says the highest setting i can go is 333. but i think i may have gotten the outdated manual because i have the revised version of the board

Check out the bios, look for a setting to increase fsb, up it a few notches at a time, then run a while to check stability, you'll soon notice quirks if it's unstable.

And, for now, that's it, I'm bushed, it's late, lol, I'm gonna hit the sack... ;)

I see a setting called "Cpu frequency" 133 - 452. I bileve that is for setting fsb correct? Currently set a 166

yep thats the one, up it 3 or 4 Mhz at a time you should be able to hit 190 x 9, make sure you keep an eye on the temps

And as Buda would say ... he who break CPU, has to get new one.

;)
