New user here...tried to send e-mail to a company. window popped up & said could not connect to smtp server.....s

no connection. What is the smtp server ? How do I enable it so I can send an e-mail message?

Greetings --

SMTP = Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.

The error message most likely means that you haven't properly
configured your email client to use your ISP's SMTP (email) server, if
they have one. Contact your ISP for specific configuration
instructions.

It depends on your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Mine is NTL (UK
based), so the setting for my SMPT is "smtp.ntlworld.com", which you
set in your email client. Yours will be different, according to your
ISP, so check with them. they will almost certainly have all the
settings posted on their web site.

SMTP is the protocol for "sending" email.
