What Is the Purpose Of Win XP's Folder C:\I386??

Yesterday I downloaded PandaSoftware's required program in
order to run their online virus scan program, Active Scan.
I had no idea where they put the program I downloaded
since they didn't ask me where I wanted it. Incidentally,
I ran Active Scan without a problem. Then I did a search
for the downloaded program. I didn't find it, but I found
two files named Panda.txt and Panda.htm in the path
C:\I386\COMPDATA. Each file contained about 3 lines that
essentially said that the Panda software was incompatible
with my version of Win XP and I should contact the
manufacturer. I don't know whether those messages are
important or not, but they LOOKED important. Especially
since the adjoining file had a message that said my DVD
drive's driver was not compatible with my Win XP, so they
replaced it. Isn't that kind of a weird place to store
such messages? Am I supposed to go there every so often
and check to see if the writer has any new messages for me?
I mean who would ever think to look THERE for an
important message?
