Can anyone tell me what the point of this "community " site is. ??

Is it that people ask questiosn or make statements about the problems that
they are having with Micorsoft Mail. I am confused.

Does any one from Microsoft answer any queries? or is it a matter of the
blind leading the blind as we say here in Australia ?

For instance I am being bombarded by spam at the moment all with hotmail
addresses. I try to block the domain using mail's junk mail filter but they
keep coming.

It's actually a UseNet news group on an NNTP server.

Yep. It's a support group.

Occasionally.

There are some few people who don't know what they are doing (as is the case
everywhere), but there are many others who do have a fair amount of
knowledge and experience, and are not "blind". They are generally giving
their time and knowledge for no return.

Who provides your mail? It might be best to start at the mail provider
level and see what tools can divert the spam as it reaches the server,
before it is downloaded to your system.

Try this link:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

To see if any messages are answered.

This is a peer-to-peer support, Windows Mail-specific newsgroup on the
Microsoft Public newsserver. While MS may monitor these public newsgroups
from time to time, they are not official MS support and you'll seldom see
anyone from MS posting in them.

What about MS MVPs, you may ask? See
http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/gp/mvpexecsum

PS: Yes, there's a lot of spam.

One of the causes of getting spam is using an unprotected email address in
newsgroups. Thus (e-mail address removed) in my From: line. The spambots
haven't figured out how to strip ".invalid" yet, or perhaps they know that
people who use a spam guard like this won't fall for their pathetic little
scams. Lots and lots of spam comes from Hotmail addresses. If you report
it to (e-mail address removed) they will cancel the offending account. I used to
do this but the spammer just gets another one. If you want to have fun and
report a few spammers, make sure to copy the entire message including
headers in your abuse report.

If anyone from Microsoft happens to answer your question they are
undoubtedly playing hookie from their real work. Any answer you are likely
to get is from a volunteer. Some are good, but some are not. The main
advantage is that sometimes you get an answer right away, and it is free.
