what is the meaning of dialog box(es)?

when I want to open my microsoft office word (2003) I face with this
sentence: the command cannot be performed because the dialog box is open.
Click OK and then close open dialog boxes to continue. I am really confused,
so any suggestion on dealing with this?
 
Sounds like a good question for a WORD newsgroup. This is an ACCESS
