Hello,
Can someone tell me what "backweb-1940576.exe" is
for in Windows XP Service Pack 1? My Norton Firewall
keeps alerting me about it, and I want to know if I can
manually change Norton Firewall so that I don't have to
be alerted anymore about that file? For now, I keep
blocking it.

Help Please,
Zack

Hi Zack,

If your computer is a Compaq, which it probably is, this is an automatic
update service.

From the site:

"BACKWEB is Backweb, AKA Compaq Service Connection. This is a subject of
much debate. Backweb connects to a Compaq server when you login to the 'net,
and if there are updates for your system it will download those updates to
your computer. If there are no updates to download, then nothing will be
downloaded. The downside of this program is that it uses a significant
amount of resources. You can always run the program from the Start Menu. If
you want to disable it by removing the check mark, go ahead and do so. You
may end up freeing about 15-18% resources on the system by doing so."
