What is Generic Host Process for Win32 Services?

What is Microsoft Generic Host Process for Win32
Services, and why is a remote system in China frequently
attempting to access it on my computer?

Norton Firewall keeps alerting me to this, but also
recommending that I allow access, as Microsoft is
a "trusted" comapny. Can anyone tell me what is going on?
Is this a security risk? Thanks.
