The steps to add an account depend on your version of Outlook and you didn't
see fit to include that in your post.

Outlook is a Personal Information Manager that is part of the Microsoft
Office Suite. Outlook Express is strictly a mail and news client that comes
packaged with Internet Explorer.

I have no experience with importing from Excel, but someone else may be able
to answer this question.

That depends. What type of MSN account? If it's a free Hotmail account,
then I don't think so.

Dear Lovely Brian,

Thanks for answering, as you can tell computers are not my forte!

How do I know what version of Outlook I am using?

I have an acct where I used to pay per month with MSN if this helps you?

I appreciate your help, I only found this discussion room today and am
thrilled that someone answered someone like me who hasn't got a clue!

Dear Lovely Brian,

Obviously you've not seen me.

Like any Windows program. Run the program and click Help>About
I have an acct where I used to pay per month with MSN if this helps
you?

Used to pay?

In order to move your MSN contacts into your Outlook Contacts folder, I
believe you need an add-in called the Outlook Connector, which is available
from MSN.

yes Brian you are certainly lovely for taking the time to help a hopeless case!

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600

does this help?

No, because that doesn't state Outlook's version. You have to click
Help>About in Outlook.

(9.0.0.3821)

I hope this is it!

OK. Thanks. Let me summarize to see if I understand everything.

You're using Outlook 2000 IMO and have one POP account defined. You wish to
add another have tried something and failed. I'm assuming it's another POP
account, based on the example you used in your original message.

Just a note here - it looks like you included your real email address in the
original message. That is ALWAYS a bad idea. SPAMmers and malware writers
look through newsgroups and other public forums to harvest new addresses for
their spew. When you publish your address, you invite that crap into your
mailbox.

Tools>Accounts is one way to add a new account, and I'm assuming this is
what you're using. Can you post exactly what you're doing and exactly what
you see?

Brian, heelo again.

I have done the tools - Accts then followed the steps, then I clicked the
one that said connected by LAN we are with Broadband then I reied to use it
but still ahve this new problem which says

Unable to connect to server
(acct pop3 server errorno 0x800ccc0e)

Then underneath
Pop3 server resonds with an error
error no. 0x800ccc90)

I will not know if the additional e-mail address added will work until I
solve the above problem. any suggestions - all gratefully received!

This is usually caused by having an antivirus program integrated with
Outlook or because you have a firewall blocking Outlook's access to the
Internet. Can you post your account settings? If you have an AV or a
firewall program, try diabling them temporarily while you test.
Then underneath
Pop3 server resonds with an error
error no. 0x800ccc90)

This often indicates that an incorrect password was specified for the
account.

What are the 'account settings?' please We have a firewall program, Norton
Anti virus, and since we installed thate verything seems to be slower and
more things seem to be going wrong!! What is an AV? How do I temporarily
disable it all and how do I do a test? Apologies for late replies but I am
away from the computer for many days at a time.

Thanks

You mentioned an incorrect password, where and when would I be using this, as
I don't need one for Outlook or do I??!!

Tools>Accounts will get you to those.

AV = antivirus.
How do I temporarily disable it all and how do I do a test?

You'll have to figure that out. Open Norton's Help and ask it or look in
Control Panel for a Norton control.. I've never used Norton Antivirus.
When I said "test", I meant "while you try to send or receive mail".

In your account settings. You need a username/password pair to connect to
your mail servers, both incoming and outgoing.
