What is the difference between High-Density and Low-Density DDR-RAM modules ?

Is there a third category of DDR RAM modules beside the 2 mentioned above ?

How do I find out if High-Density fit into my motherboard (in general resp. especially for my Asus A8N) ?

How much speed increase do I get when using HIGH instead of LOW Density modules ?

Does the difference between High-Density and Low-Density modules exist also in the DDR2 and DDR3 world ?

High and Low density memory modules has absolutely nothing to do with speed.
It's the same as single and double sided sticks. Single being High density
and double sided being Low density. You will have to check your Asus boards
documentation to see if it supports High density modules. If it doesn't,
the board will only see half the memory. A good example is an older celeron
I had, both the manufacturer and crucial.com stated that the max memory for
the machine was 256mb or 2 sticks of 128mb sdram (remember I said it was
old). I found that if you obtained double sided (low density) ram that the
machine would recognize the full 256mb of each stick, for a total of 512.
By the way, a google search of "high and low density ddr memory" would have
given you the answer you need.

To see approx. 50 applications and compare your A8N's parameters, look
at the fine print list on this Ebay site--NOT my auction! HTH, s

Your question on the PHYSICAL characteristics of different types of
memory have absolutely NOTHING to do with the OS.

Ask elsewhere.

Hi, Friend,

It is nothing about speed of low-density or high-Density.

The low-density means 8bitS of the chips, the High-density means 4bits of the chips.

so low-density will be compatible with all kinds of motherboard and CPU.
if high-density mostly of them is compatible with AMD,VIS,SIS only.

for more info you need or questions you have, please kindly kindly email to me :

We are professional manufacturer of the ddr ram memory modules since 2001 in Shenzhen of China.
I will be pleasure if here any I can help.
