What is required to set up a VPN w/ XP Prof?

Hi,

We have set up a VPN (LAN with DSL router, XP Prof on the server side), PCs
and routers can be successfully ping-ed over the VPN but Windows file and
printer sharing doesn't work.

Does Windows file sharing work at all over VPN with just a WinXP Prof.
system as a server? Do we need like a WINS server?

Any clues welcome.

In general, it will work like when you are connected to a Win2K/2K3
server EXCEPT that name resolution will not work reliably (thus the
WINS server general requirement, which XP does not have). You can
connect to network shares with no problem using UNC paths and IP
Addresses (and sometimes names), but browsing will not be too
successful without the WINS server.
