VPN Through a Netgear router

I have a Lan with a W2K server and several PCs. I want to use VPN for remote
access to the server from an XP PC. From the remote PC I can get to, and log
on tto, the server but I cannot even ping the server. The router is a
Netgeat DG834 and supports VPN. we have set the router up as per the
instruction manual and we have put a second network card in the server.

find the PPTP IP from the server by using ipconfig command. Then ping the server PPTP IP. Can you ping it?

the ip address appears to be the generic 192.168.0.xxx. how do I define the
server to the internet?

When I ping the router I have a totally different Ip address and this works
