What is "Onboard LAN Boot ROM"

Getting ready to set up a small home LAN. My motherboard has this option.
What does it do?

you can copy an image of windows down to the workstation by booting off the
lan. Its more for companies though. So i'd just ignore it. Or disable it,
and speed you boot process up by a few seconds :)
 
Thanks for the info. I enabled the LAN but left that alone anyway. Sounds
like I don't need it.
