What is needed from PC maker

Hi,
When we get a computer, our target system, it will come without any
operating system. However it will have a motherboard (MB) and BIOS. I have
seen situations where when you build a system from scratch that the MB
manufacture provides a disk with hardware specific "drivers" or
configuration information. This is installed after the operating system has
been installed. There may also be drivers for such as sound or video but I
think these are provided by the XP image because the hardware for these are
generally pretty common between MBs. Am I missing anything with my view?

The drivers that come with the MB are propabably the latest device drivers,
which may or may not be in the component database. It is best to install XP
Pro and all the drivers on the MB and run TAP.EXE.
