What is jet4 and is it necessary

Whenever I go to the windows up date it list this as
needed by my system. I have no idea what it is or if I
need it and if I don't need it how to stop windows from
displaying it. Any help is appreciated.

While it may never have caused you any problems, did it HELP you?

It's a newer version of the Microsoft JET database engine. If you
don't do any database programming, then you won't need it; then again,
it certainly doesn't hurt anything to just go ahead and install it for
the day you do need it.
