All the sudden I have a new service running on my win2000
and winxp systems. The program is nvsysvc32.exe and it's
in the system32 folder. It will sometimes run for several
hours taking up 30% of the processor.

What is it and do I need it?

Are you sure it's not nvsvc32.exe? A google search would suggest it's a
video card drive. If the file name is correct, I'd research further, and do
a anti-virus scan with updated DATs.

I hope you don't take this personally but I'm getting
tired of people asking me that question. I made no
mistake in the spelling. It is nvsysvc32.exe.

I've also perform a full scan of my system and no problems
are found.

None taken. I guess my point was that if you google nvsysvc.exe you get
zilch, whereas nvsvc32.exe gets several hits.

So first: what video card do you have? Is it an NVIDIA/Detonator card? If
so, next I would google nvsvc32.exe and check the hits, and even go the
graphics card manufacturers web site. Examples:

http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/nvsvc32.exe.html

http://tinyurl.com/3vjtz

http://www.2-spyware.com/file-nvsvc32-exe.html

http://tinyurl.com/4au3l

If you don't have this make of card, then i guess you're sol. By the way, I
hope by "full scan' you also mean spyware/adware. Good luck.

Why don't you go to the file in Windows Explorer | Right-click | Properties
| Read the version tab for Copyright info? No version tab what do you
think? I would rename it in that case to nvsysvc32.ex_ and see what stops
working. Boot into Safe Mode and do that or try to do it after you kill the
process in Task Manager.
