Subject: what is field
A field is a category or storage container in a database.
In Word this would most likley be in the application of tables, however they
may be some others as well.
A specific question would make it easier to help! In general, though,
fields do the following:
- display file information (such as the CreateDate field, the FileName
field)
- cross-reference items such as headings, bookmarks, figures, numbered
paragraphs (Ref field)
- perform calculations (formula field)
- display the page number (Page field)
- insert numbering (Seq fields, AutoNum fields)
- insert numbering from a list template (ListNum fields)
