MS word update field problem

I have a document that it contains fields that is a formula (one text
form field (text1) minus another text form field (text2)). When I
protected the document, everytime I enter a number in the field in
text1, the formula field will make a copy of itself instead of doing
the calculation. When I unprotect the document and update the formula
field, it will change itself back to 0....

I cant figure out whats wrong with it, any one have an idea??

Presumably you have "Calculate on exit" checked in the Form Field Options
for all three fields? The only KB I'm aware of relating to formula fields is
this one: "WD2000: Calculation in Form Field Shows Wrong Result" at
