Hi, anyone.

When I came home from work today I found this little message waiting for me.
"epiyjzzkut.exe has stopped working"
"Windows can check online..." yadda yadda yadda.

My question is: What in the hell is epiyjzzkut.exe?
I google'd the darn thing, even without extension, and got nothing. Zip,
Zero, Null.
Has anyone heard even a whisper about this "program"?

Thanks!

Given the apparent random nature of the name and the fact that Google
doesn't find anything it's very likely it's malware. Scan your computer with
Windows Defender and your antivirus. If they don't find anything that
doesn't mean you're not infected. Try some other antimalware scans.

As Kerry as told you, your computer is most probably infected.

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with David Lipman's Multi_AV and follow instructions to
do all scans in Safe Mode.

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Multi-AV - instructions
http://pcdid.com/Multi_AV.htm - download

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

Not all tools used will work in Vista and you will need to run them
elevated. Since Vista is so new, it will be a while before removal
techniques and tools are developed. If you are unable to remove the
infection by following the general steps, register at one of the
HijackThis forums as suggested.

Standard caveat: If the procedures look too complex - and there is no
shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not your local version of
BigStoreUSA). Please be aware that not all local shops are skilled at
removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be so infested
that Windows will need to be clean-installed. Have all your data backed
up before you take the machine into a shop.

I agree that this file is certainly something to investigate. One other
answer is that it might be from one of the SysInternal programs. They can
generate random names for themselves for some reason (I've forgotten, but
check the SysInternal site) and this might be one of those. If you've
installed any of the SysInternals programs (Process Explorer for example)
this could be your answer.
