What is Difference between Office Word vs Works Word?

Works comes with a word processing module, but it is not the same program as
Word. Works Suite 2002 thru 2005 come with Word 2002, which is the same
version of Word that comes with Office XP, which in turn is the previous
version of Office (the current version of Office is Office 2003). The Office
suite includes Word, Excel, and Outlook; different editions of Office can
also include Powerpoint, Access, Front Page, and Publisher. If all you need
is Word, and if you don't need the very latest version of Word, then the
cheapest way to purchase it is as part of Works Suite versions 2002 thru
2005. If you need some of the other applications that are available in the
Office suite, then it's usually cheaper to purchase one of the Office suites
than to purchase Word and Excel and one other application separately.
